Palet commissioned Baast Studio to develop a user-friendly design tool that empowers users to customize, visualize, and order products, all in one place.
The result is more than just a beautiful digital tool with high product fidelity that places the product in the users' homes; it is an interactive experience that honors the natural qualities of glazed tiles while putting creative control directly into the customers' hands.

Summary
Palet wanted to bridge tradition and innovation by making it easier for customers to explore, personalize, and engage with their premium and unique products. To achieve this, we developed a high-fidelity 3D tool that accurately showcases Palet's products, allowing users to visualize, interact, and order with a high level of realism.
This innovative solution integrated with their manufacturing process while also empowering customers to actively participate in the design journey, helping Palet achieve new business goals.

Background
Palet places a strong emphasis on the design and quality of their tiles, and they wanted their design tool to reflect that commitment. They aimed for users to not only visualize the tile colors but also experience the glossiness, material, and unique experimental glazes they use.
The goal was to enable customers to sample and order with confidence, reduce the risk of returns, and easily share their creations.
Our Process
For us, innovation stems from understanding the needs of our clients and their existing processes. We began by immersing ourselves in Palet's world, learning about their production process and tile printing techniques. This involved visiting their factory and collaborating closely to visualize each step.
Innovating within Palet's workflow
We set out to create a solution that would seamlessly integrate with Palet's existing workflow. By leveraging the same files they use for printing to display the 3D tile, we minimized extra work while maintaining consistency.
From capturing the glossiness to accurately representing different lighting conditions, we designed a tool that is not only easy to update but also capable of evolving alongside Palet's growing business.

Users can easily design and order tiles from any device, whether on a desktop, smartphone, or tablet. Palet's design platform is created to be intuitive and responsive.
Dezeen Awards 2024 Nominated
After the project launch, Palet was nominated for the prestigious Dezeen Awards in the Design Surfaces category for enabling people to design and produce their own ceramic tiles.
