Human Prompt Human: A Large-Scale Audiovisual Experience in the Age of AI

What happens when you turn AI's influence on human thinking into a 370 sqm immersive experience? Human Prompt Human makes the invisible patterns of prompt-based creativity visceral, nature and technology collide, decay meets regeneration, and the questions we ask shape what we become.

Created for NXT Museum's AI for Intent residency and acquired by Prosus, this work doesn't celebrate or reject AI. It makes you feel the tension of living with it.

The Challenge

Prosus and NXT Museum sought more than artistic spectacle, they needed work that could critically examine AI's impact on creativity while delivering an exceptional experience for museum visitors.

The brief called for artists who understand technology deeply enough to question it, not just use it. This meant creating something that sparks genuine reflection about how AI is reshaping the way we think, create, and express ourselves.

Our Process

We started by exploring a fundamental question: how does AI change the way we ask for things and what we create?

Our inspiration came from the surrealist game exquisite corpse, where each player responds to fragments without seeing the full picture. We realized this mirrors how we interact with AI, the way we prompt shapes what we receive, which in turn influences our next question.

From this insight, we developed a digital exquisite corpse between us. We exchanged prompts, each shaped by patterns emerging from AI interactions, making visible how our creative thinking adapts when we anticipate algorithmic responses.

The piece acknowledges that while creating art remains deeply human, our ways of seeing and interpreting the world are increasingly influenced by the digital tools we use daily.

The Visuals

Using TouchDesigner, we built a visual language where nature and decay hold an ongoing conversation. Organic forms emerge and deteriorate across the space, branches fracture into digital fragments, textures shift between natural and algorithmic.

The graphics make visible the tension between the natural world and our mediated ways of seeing it. Each element responds to our prompting patterns, translating the rhythm of exchange into large-scale imagery. The result feels alive, questioning, and deliberately unsettled.

Opening Day

At the special opening event at NXT Museum, we had the chance to present Human Prompt Human alongside the thinking behind it. We spoke about how AI is fundamentally changing the tools we use to create, but the act of creating itself remains deeply, irreducibly human.

It was a moment to connect with visitors about something many of us feel but struggle to articulate: technology reshapes our methods, our language, even our creative instincts, yet the need to make, express, and question through art persists.
